1. Who We Are
ClearShorts ("we", "us", or
"our") operates the website at https://clearshorts.com
(the "Platform"). We are an online educational resource providing
bite-sized study material to assist bank employees preparing for the
Junior Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers (JAIIB) examination conducted by
the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF).

2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account information: Full name, email address, and optionally your phone number when you register.
- Profile data: Preferred language, avatar image (if uploaded), and examination-related preferences you set in your profile.
- Payment information: We collect the amount paid, selected plan, and Razorpay transaction/order reference IDs. We do not store your card number, CVV, UPI ID, or net-banking credentials. All payment processing is handled by Razorpay (PCI-DSS compliant).
- Usage data: Pages visited, content viewed, reactions (likes/dislikes), mock test attempts and scores, and session information — collected automatically to improve the Platform.
- Technical data: IP address (hashed for analytics), browser type, device type, operating system, and approximate country — collected via our internal analytics system.
- Communications: Messages you send us via the contact form, including your name, email, and message text.
- Cookies & session data: Session cookies for authentication and preference storage. See Section 5.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your personal data to:
- Create and manage your user account.
- Provide access to free and premium content based on your membership.
- Process payments and send membership confirmation emails.
- Send transactional emails: email verification, password resets, and purchase receipts.
- Send educational or promotional emails related to your JAIIB preparation (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Track content engagement (views, likes, mock test scores) to personalise your experience.
- Monitor and improve Platform security, prevent fraud and abuse.
- Analyse aggregate, anonymised usage statistics to improve our content and features.
- Respond to your support queries submitted via the contact form.
- Comply with applicable Indian laws and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not engage in targeted advertising based on your personal profile.
4. Sharing of Information
We share your data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Razorpay: Payment processor. Your billing information is shared with Razorpay solely to complete your transaction. Razorpay's privacy policy governs their use of your data.
- Email service providers: SMTP providers (e.g., Gmail SMTP) used solely to deliver transactional emails to you.
- IP-API (ip-api.com): Your hashed/anonymised IP address may be sent to this service to determine your approximate country for analytics purposes. No personally identifiable information is transmitted.
- Legal obligations: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority under Indian law (including the IT Act 2000 and its amendments).
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you via email before such a transfer takes effect.
No third-party advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics companies (such as Google Analytics) are integrated into this Platform.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use the following types of cookies:
- Session cookie (strictly necessary): A PHP session cookie named
jaiibshorts_sess is set when you visit the Platform. It stores your login state, CSRF token, and language preference. This cookie is essential for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled.
- Preference cookies: If you select a preferred language or theme, this preference is stored in your session and/or your account record in our database.
We do not use third-party tracking cookies, Google Analytics,
Facebook Pixel, or any advertising cookies.
You can delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Deleting the session
cookie will log you out of the Platform.
6. Payment Data
All payment transactions on ClearShorts are processed securely by
Razorpay Software Private Limited, a PCI-DSS compliant payment
gateway regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). We receive only:
- The Razorpay Order ID and Payment ID (alphanumeric reference strings).
- The amount paid and currency.
- Payment status (captured / failed).
We never receive or store your card number, CVV, expiry date, UPI VPA, net-banking
credentials, or any other sensitive financial data. Razorpay's Privacy Policy is
available at razorpay.com/privacy.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for the following periods:
- Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
- Membership & payment records: Retained for a minimum of 7 years in accordance with Indian financial record-keeping requirements under the Income Tax Act and GST regulations.
- Contact form submissions: Retained for 12 months, then permanently deleted unless escalated to a legal matter.
- Analytics data (page views): IP addresses are stored only as irreversible SHA-256 hashes. Raw analytics data is retained for 12 months.
8. Your Rights
As a user of ClearShorts, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal information via your Profile page at any time.
- Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data. Note that financial transaction records may be retained as required by law.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email or contacting us.
- Right to Data Portability: Request an export of your account data in a machine-readable format.

9. Children's Privacy
ClearShorts is intended exclusively for adults (bank employees and working
professionals). The Platform is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has
registered on our Platform, please contact us immediately at
clearshorts360@gmail.com
and we will promptly delete the account.
10. Data Security
We implement the following technical and organisational measures to protect your data:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS / TLS encryption.
- Passwords are hashed using PHP's
password_hash() (bcrypt) — never stored in plain text.
- CSRF tokens are validated on every form submission.
- IP addresses in analytics are stored as irreversible SHA-256 hashes.
- Database access is restricted to application-level credentials with minimum necessary permissions.
- Security headers (X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, Content-Security-Policy) are sent on every response.
- Rate limiting is applied to login, registration, and contact form endpoints.
Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that
is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you by email
within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes,
we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate,
notify you by email. Your continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes
your acceptance of the revised policy.
